How are all of you doing with Dr. Nicks assignment. I haven't seen anything on your blogs so maybe I am not the only one struggling with this assignment. Any suggestions are appreciated deeply!
I didn't realize when he assigned it that we don't have a budget yet due to the fact that stimulus funds have not been received yet. So, I am not doing very well either. It doesn't help that we are presenting campus plan changes to the board tonight. So, I am pre-occupied with that.
Ok,I just met with our assistant superintendent. One of the items that I am going to look at is staffing ratios between campuses. You can pull this off of last years AEIS. Just an idea.
I hope that I am not totally off base......I pulled up our district AEIS and chose two areas of concern, i.e. Math and Drop Out Rate. I am going to talk about methods that the district might implement to improve the scores....it is data driven and I think (hope) that is what he is asking for......
I'm starting mine today. When trying to make data driven decisions it seems that the most readily available data is the AEIS report. I know the budget is also an area that many schools struggle with but I honestly do not feel competent enough yet to start telling people how to spend money. In our district we have two glaring problems; secondary math and 5th grade science. Those are the areas I am going to focus on.
I feel your pain. I am meeting with Dr. Cavness and with Ms. McDaniel today. Maybe I can come out with some more ideas.
